We are looking for new team members, one focused on community development, one on financial education, and the third focused on bilingual nutrition education. While UW-Madison is the employer, both jobs will be located in Milwaukee County out of our West Allis office. Positions currently open for applications:

 

Community Development Educator

The Community Development Educator delivers education where people live and work in schools and communities. Extension educators also work with civic groups and local governments, write newspaper columns, conduct radio and TV programs, facilitate meetings and build coalitions to solve community problems. This dynamic position has an emphasis on community development:

  • Engaging with Black Small Business Entrepreneurs in developing educational needs-based programs;
  • Building community partnerships that support educational outreach programming;
  • Identifying opportunities to partner with neighborhood organizations and provide university-based research and data to help inform decision-making;
  • Work with Extension Local Government to provide research-based resources and programming to communities.The ideal candidate is adept at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, engaging stakeholders, and applying an equity lens toward transforming lives and communities. Bilingual FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

The Bilingual Nutrition Educator is a member of the Milwaukee County FoodWIse team. Bilingual Nutrition Educators are peer educators who co-learn with community members and adapt teaching to honor cultures and experiences. Bilingual Nutrition Educators work collaboratively with community partners and engage people from the diverse communities of Wisconsin to adopt healthy food and physical activity habits.

Human Development & Relationships Educator (Financial Education)

The Human Development & Relationships Extension Educator delivers education where people live and work in schools and communities. Extension educators also work with civic groups and local governments, write newspaper columns, conduct radio and TV programs, facilitate meetings and build coalitions to solve community problems. This dynamic position has an emphasis on Financial Education including:

    • Teaching residents how to secure and keep affordable housing through Extension’s Rent Smart program;
    • Improving the financial capability of all county residents, with a specific emphasis on older adults, youth, low-income, and under-served groups;
    • Training for community service providers on how to empower their clients with money management skills;
    • Providing one-on-one financial coaching.
