We’re Hiring a Community Development Educator!

We are hiring a full-time, salaried Community Development Educator to work out of our office in West Allis. The Community Development Educator is an integral part of the UW-Madison Division of Extension and works alongside the people of Wisconsin to improve lives and communities. Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts.

This dynamic position has an emphasis on community economic development:

  • Engaging in the delivery of existing community development entrepreneurship education efforts (e.g. Entrepreneurship in Training Program and Entrepreneurs of Color Program)
  • Building community partnerships that support educational outreach programming;
  • Collaborate with the local community and economic leaders to offer community economic development planning programs, (e.g. community economic analysis, downtown toolbox, and community vitality and placemaking) aimed at helping local communities and neighborhoods organize, prioritize, and achieve entrepreneurial capacity and strengthen the local economy.

Our educators deliver education where people live and work in Milwaukee County communities. This is done by assessing local, regional, and statewide needs in the area of the position’s programmatic emphasis and designing, delivering, and evaluating research-based educational programming and services to meet these needs.

This position is a part of the Division of Extension Community Development Institute. The Extension Community Development Institute provides educational programming to assist leaders, communities, and organizations realize their fullest potential. We work with communities to build the vitality that enhances their quality of life and enriches the lives of their residents. We educate in leadership development, organizational development, food systems, community economic development, local government education, and much more. In short, the Community Development Institute plants and cultivates the seeds for thriving communities and organizations.

The ideal candidate is adept at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, engaging stakeholders, and applying an equity lens toward transforming lives and communities. Salary Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months),  Depending on Qualifications
